In “Don’t Bring It to Work” I discuss the 13 behavior patterns that follow us from our original organization, the family into our work organization.
The BIG, I mean BIG question is “Why do we keep doing the same things over and over and over and over and over“?
The even BIGGER question is “What happens when we ignore the patterns of avoider, denier, procrastinator, and the like over, and over and over and over and over“?
The answer: WE GET PATTERN SPILLS!!!!!!!!!!!!! (Thank you Laurie Wade for this image).
BIGGEST question is “How do we find the way OUT“?
The answer: learn the OUT Technique: OBSERVE your patterns and you can make change instantly; UNDERSTAND your patterns and change is deeper and longer lasting; TRANSFORM your patterns and you can inspire, motivate, and lead the way.
The clown pattern, the kid in the family or at work who stands on the table wearing a funny fake nose and annoying everyone can be transformed into the humorist. I don’t know if Jon Stewart was a silly son, I do know he is a humorist in the Mark Twain lineage. He tackles tough issues, gets to the heart of the matter, and makes us think.
Watch this Jon Stewart clip and then DO SOMETHING.
Stop being an avoider or a denier, or a pleaser.
What the world needs now are PatternAware™ leaders who dig into their own old, ingrained behavior and say “It will stop with me“.
Forget the persecutor mentality that points the finger and blames BP and the victim mindset that blames the Middle East.
We are all culpable! Each and every one of us is playing a role.
Learn how to transform the patterns deeply entrenched from generations of family, culture, and crises that cause us to turn a blind eye to greed, corruption, secrets, and lies.
It’s about you, it’s about me, and it’s about time.
